From The Organ Bench: Getting to Know Our St. Joseph Cantors - Dr. Michael Dickson

Michael Dickson is married to Misty Hollis- Dickson who teaches 1st-3rd grade at Montessori School of Columbia. Michael and Misty were married at St. Joseph Church in 1994. They have three children: Samuel, James, and Muireall.

Michael teaches medieval philosophy and philosophy of music at University of South Carolina, sings in the St. Joseph schola cantorum (fancy words for choir), and has served as a St. Joseph cantor for ten years. Michael once competed for the United States amateur triathlon team at the world championships. He studied French horn performance and played in orchestras prior to becoming a professional philosopher. He is an avid pipe organ enthusiast and has the idea to build a small organ in his home, himself. Also, he is an avid cyclist and is the proud owner of a newly constructed road bike.
