From The Organ Bench: Getting to Know Our St. Joseph Cantors - Thomas Blake

Thomas Blake is a rising sophomore at the University of South Carolina where he studies voice with Dr. Johnny Felcher and organ with Thomas Russell. Thomas is working on a Bachelor of Science in Music Industry Studies.

Thomas grew up in St. Joseph parish attending the parochial school and graduating from Cardinal Newman in 2022. He was an altar server beginning 5th grade until his graduation from high school. While at Cardinal Newman, Thomas was at the center of everything musical and drama. He was a member of Cardinal Newman Chorale, Organ Academy, marching band (trombone), and was frequently the main or supporting role in the Cardinal Newman drama department productions. Two of his favorite roles have included Friar Lawrence in Romeo & Juliet and Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Thomas has one brother, Sam, who is a rising senior at Cardinal Newman, who is also musical, and also serves as a St. Joseph altar server. His parents, Christine and Patrick, have been St. Joseph Extraordinary Ministers for more than ten years. Dr. Christine Blake is an associate professor in the Department of Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior at the USC Arnold School of Public Health. Patrick is the 9th-grade guidance counselor at Cardinal Newman School.
