Memories Generated

Our series on “We Found Miss Jackson,” organist 1975-1981, generated a hand- written letter from St. Joseph parishioner, Alice Abdalla, recalling several wonderful memories. You may recall Margaret entered the Catholic Church through St. Joseph and became Margaret McDonald. She had two sons before leaving St. Joseph. Alice was godmother to Margaret’s oldest son. They are now back in touch!

Alice went on to share how, after taking piano lessons in grammar and high school, she learned to play the organ for Stations of the Cross and occasionally accompanied the choir under Father Watters (St. Joseph Parochial Vicar many years ago). Also, she learned to play for some Masses and Holy Hours at St. Peter’s.

Alice went on to share wonderful memories of singing in the St. Joseph choir for many years, taking trips in a bus to sing in Charleston at festival occasions at the Cathedral. She made many friends but sadly has lost touch with many of them. If you would like to reconnect, let me know and we can put you in touch withAlice’s daughter, who can then connect you to Alice!

Keep those cards, letters, comments, and encouragements coming!
