Diocese of Charleston Witness Affidavit Requirements for Marriage Preparation
As part of the marriage preparation process within the Diocese of Charleston, each couple is required to submit Witness Affidavits as follows:

Two (2) affidavits for the Bride

Two (2) affidavits for the Groom
The affidavits must be completed by individuals who have known the bride or groom for an extended period of time. Suitable witnesses include parents, siblings, or other approved relatives or close family friends.

Each affidavit must be signed by a Cleric, Minister, or Notary

Only original documents will be accepted. Photocopies or digital copies will not be considered valid.
Completed affidavits should be submitted directly to St. Joseph Church.

The St. Joseph Wedding Agreement Form must be fully completed by the bride and groom to confirm a wedding date at the Church. Please note that a wedding date will not be reserved or considered scheduled until the completed form has been received by the priest, clergy, or wedding coordinator.
