From The Organ Bench

Our Catholic faith was represented well at the USC School of Music Recital Hall on Thursday, Nov. 6. Curran Bramhall, who grew up at St. Joseph attending the parochial school and then Cardinal Newman, presented his Junior Recital in partial fulfillment of his Music Education degree with a Performance Certificate. Curran is one of our St. Joseph cantors and sings in our schola cantorum. Curran is the son of Robert and Nell Bramhall, and the older brother to Keenan. Curran did an excellent job!

We have been blessed over the last two weeks to offer organ playing opportunities at the 10:30 Mass to four young organists, Thomas Blake (USC), Jack Seezen (CN), Brandon Mateo (CN), and Noah Reisenauer (CN). Proud of them all!

Our Cardinal Newman Organ Academy has eight organ students this school year. Three students will graduate in May and all three have plans to continue organ study at USC. They are busy preparing for their January auditions at USC. Other Organ Academy news… Cardinal Newman has been blessed with the gift of a new three-manual, 58-stop Allen digital organ which was delivered to the school on Tuesday, Nov. 7. We finally have an ideal teaching instrument!

Finally, the first meeting of the 75th Anniversary Organ Project fund-raising team was Thursday, Oct. 26. It is an exciting group of parishioners who we will introduce next week. Brad Cunningham, Organist
